Migration challenges and border security
Main Article Content
Abstract
The present study analyzes the impact of migratory flows on Ecuador's border security, particularly focused on migrants from Venezuela, and evaluated whether this process has contributed to the increase in insecurity within the territory. The methodology used combined qualitative and quantitative methods, including an interview with a border security and migration agent, analysis of statistical data and review of official sources. Problems were identified such as limited access to basic services, the strengthening of criminal networks and the labor vulnerability of migrants. However, it was evident that, despite the measures implemented, there is still room for improvement in migration management in Ecuador. In addition, it contributed to understanding and addressing the challenges of migration in the country, proposing strategies to strengthen border security and combat crime associated with migration, with the aim of improving migration management within the territory.
