Leadership and its impact on the cohesion and performance of Law Enforcement Forces
Main Article Content
Abstract
This study investigates the impact of leadership on the cohesion and performance of law enforcement in Ecuador. The theoretical framework is based on conceptualizing leadership in military and police contexts, highlighting transformational and transactional styles. Through a systematic review approach, the current type of leadership in law enforcement was analyzed to identify efficiencies and areas for improvement. The results indicate that transformational and transactional leadership favors group cohesion and positive psychological capital, which is essential for performance and operational effectiveness. This analysis offers a renewed leadership model that seeks to form competent and committed leaders, who, based on institutional principles and values, will become a strategic advantage in the face of threats and growing regional instability
