SPACIAL SEISMIC ANALYSIS OF TOWER 2 OF ECONOMY FACULTY OF UNIVERSIDAD LAICA ELOY ALFARO FROM MANABI AFFECTED BY THE 2016’S EARTHQUAKE
Main Article Content
Abstract
The behavior of buildings and structures subject to seismic loads, it is up to seismic engineering; this should lean on seismology that studies earthquakes, and the propagation of seismic waves that generate all around the earth, considering what tectonics plates means. The study center of the Faculty of Economic II is a structure that has no considerable time of built, which one that before Pedernales earthquake of 16A behaved structurally greatly by taking into consideration the construction rules stipulated, but that failed severely at masonry level because set construction, but failed severely in his masonry because they do not have extensive knowledge in the construction system of that. The problems evidenced in masonry’s level we can see so much failures at the level of the whips that were not placed properly, that’s because it is up to the master builder to be placement, how they should be placed, in which section, etc. Another cause is that the walls have a large height and a large length and in these cases we should place a structural element like joists so that it can confine well, and the wall can act as one. The seismic analysis of reinforced structure was made considering the spectrum obtained in Manta’s city, in the earthquake of April 16, 2016, which had a magnitude of 7.8. This spectrum has a higher ordinate than the range reported by the Ecuadorian Construction Standard NEC-15. It was made considering heavy and light masonry; the best choice is the second. What is sought to do is present a seismic analysis so that you can put the structure, which is operating for the use of the university community can be strengthened but is not necessary as the structure works excellently with an earthquake of big intensity; what we have to do is to put lighter walls and flexible feature that has the Gypsum.
