Abstract

This article describes the design and implementation of an electric and electronic system to automate the process of winding polypropylene plastic straps in the factory CODIEMPAQUES of ECUADOR CIA. LTDA. The automatic process uses induction and stepper motors to allow the plastic strap to be winded and positioned on a spool for storage and distribution. The winding process that produces a uniform, compact plastic strap roll comprises two stages. The first stage uses a three-phase induction motor controlled by strength algorithms. The second stage uses a stepping motor controlled by three positions, speed, and change-rotation algorithms. The algorithms are processed by high-performance controllers that receive the signals from some sensors. Then, the signals are transferred by MODBUS NETWORK CONTROLLERS to be processed. Finally, the implementation is developed under the ISO / IEC 24702 standard guides for distribution, switching, and connection of devices; this standard guide optimizes time and resources.
